Affordable Care Act Decrease Uninsured Rates For Black Americans

Decline in unisured rates between 2010 and 2017 is a direct result from the Affordable Care Act. Black and Hispanic Americans have seen a dramatic decrease in uninsured rates leading to a hopeful future. Graph from Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.


Health insurance is a necessity for individual health and overall public health, allocating money to pay for medical needs. However not everyone has such luxuries especially individuals within the black community.


With the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, passed in 2010, there was a signifcant decline of uninsured black americans.


Insuring 11.4 million Americans, the Affordable Care Act ensures every American is able to receive and obtain affordable healthcare but there are still threats of repealing this act.
